Sorry for the delay in our update the last 4 weeks have been hectic!!!!
With the weather been so mild, due to the high pressure system drawing in the warmer weather, it’s allowed us to get out on the fishing grounds daily with a combination of the high pressure and settled mild weather.
The last set of Neap Tides saw very little fish caught as the water was starting to clear out with all the settled weather which isn’t good when Uptiding, as you need plenty of colour in the water! Add that to that the aforementioned Neap Tides and hardly any flowing tide we struggled to get fish over the rails!
The past few days has seen big spring tides and just as predicted the Cod started to fly over the rails, with plenty of tide and a little colour in the water in places the Cod were back on the feed and we have been averaging around 40 Codlings per trip with two Cod over 8lb and many in the 3lb bracket, so not a bad stamp of fish!
Bait of choice has still been Black Lug and Dirty Squid
TIP, DON’T EVER ‘wash’ or defrost your squid in water as it loses all the scent / flavour!!!
Let it naturally defrost and hook frozen if need be!! Even better as it defrosts on the way down to release those flavours!!! 🙂
We have also run a few 3hr Uptiding Taster Trips and it’s been great to see the youngsters getting onto the Cod!
Also we have the WCSA Spring Festival coming up very soon, which starts April 13th to April 28th. With a massive £1000 pounds cash up for grabs for heaviest fish you don’t want to miss it.
For more info on any of our trips feel free to drop us a message through the website.
Tight lines for now !!
