Hi everyone, sorry its been a while since our last update.
We are at that time in the year where the trips are coming thick and fast and we’re operating flat out when the weather allows to bring you a great days fishing!
Whether it’s a Taster Trip or a full day over the many wrecks and reefs and fantastic ground we have here at Whitby.
I’ll start with were we left off in our last update, the end of May has seen the fishing switch right on with us seeing our first good hauls of Mackerel, which was a little unexpected but great to see.
We got into early June and the fishing has just kept getting better, with the settled weather and clear waters the fishing was alive with us catching great numbers of fish on the majority of our trips. We even saw our first double figure Cod over the wrecks this season but to cap that off we also saw our second double figure Cod on the same trip, with the first tipping the scales at 11lb.2oz and the the other a little over 10lb as well as multiple Cod and Ling to the 8lb mark!
As we got to mid June we had a change in the weather and a few days of horrid North Easterlies and big rough seas, which in turn coloured up the water to a chocolate colour! So when we got back to sea the fishing was terrible and hard work, but we stuck at it and picked away to do our best for our anglers as we always do!
Saturday 15th June also saw the WCSA Grand Summer Festival get underway with a staggering 5 Grand cash up for grabs, which we are participating in!
Sadly we have had no prize winning fish as of yet, but the fishing is slowly improving, as the water begins to clear with a good stamp of Cod and Ling to the 6lb mark coming aboard over the last few days.
We have also had a few other species over the rails such as Ballan Wrasse, Coley and the usual Whiting and Pouting. There is plenty of feed marks showing up, and we also had our first string of Herring over the last few days.
With a couple of weeks to run in the festival hopefully we will get a big one and get on the prize board.
We are still taking bookings for our 2hr Evening trips and 3hr Taster Trips during School Holidays. Bait rigs and the artificial lures such as Hokkais and shads have all been working well.
We will bring you another update as soon as we can.
Tight lines for now!!
